In this Las Vegas travel guide, we'll show you the best of what Vegas has to offer, from world-class casinos and resorts to stunning national parks & hidden gems. We'll also give you tips on where to stay, eat, and shop, so you can make the most of your vacation to Las Vegas.
THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL
"What To Pack To Las Vegas" list.
Obviously you know you should pack underwear... no no.... this is a reminder of the items that you DON'T WANT TO FORGET & the items that you NEED TO PICK UP UPON ARRIVAL!
Where To Stay In Las Vegas
Things To Do In Vegas
Where To Eat In Vegas
If you truly want to be 'part' of our adventures and get a true, first hand experience, definitely check out our YouTube videos in Las Vegas and the surrounding area!
Become a part of the Adventure Encounters squad and be the first to hear about where our next travel destination will be, our insight on locations we stay & adventures that we take via our travel blog, plus a few extras!
These are MUST PICK UP items once you get checked in, or at least the same day of arrival!!
Now days, when you get checked into your Las Vegas hotel/resort, they will generally supply 2 miniature bottles of water (sometimes none at all), and you will be charged for any extras that you want. So... another savings tip, go to a near by grocery store and grab a pack of waters!
I know this sounds like an odd one, BUT not only is Pedialyte used for kids and getting them hydrated, but this is EXCELLENT for not only replenishing adults and staying hydrated but it's actually REALLY good for hangovers... well... this and saltine crackers lol. I make it sound like we are alcoholics when we go to Las Vegas (only one or two days 🤣), but I kid you not, this is A MUST buy when you arrive (before you start dehydrating yourself 😉)
Call us cheap, but getting snack items and fruit items at a grocery store vs the impulse items at the casino's.... this is a HUGE money saver, especially in Vegas ! I don't know about you, but I am ALWAYS wanting a quick snack type item before lunch and sometimes after dinner lol. So, when you get your waters, PICK UP SOME SNACK FOOD ITEMS!
HANGOVER DAY SAVER!! I kid you not, this Alka Seltzer Extra Strength, Pedialyte, and saltine crackers is what literally saved one of my Las Vegas vacation days vs being hung over & singing to the porcelan gods (if you know what I mean)! Make sure the Alka Seltzer is EXTRA STRENGTH! Trust me, it makes a HUGE difference!
If you don't make a special trip to the grocery store either BEFORE or AFTER you get to Las Vegas, these important OTC drugs can get extremely expensive at the 'convenient' stores & casino's. We always pack the following: (daily) medications, vitamins, tums, band aids, q-tips, Benadryl, razor, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, tweezers, Aloe Vera, hand sanitizer, makeup, shave cream, spf face lotion, body lotion, deodorant, body glide, nail clippers, Advil, perfume/ cologne
Ok, yes, you do get free drinks while gambling in Las Vegas... but sometimes you might be waiting FOR-EV-ER (saying it like Smalls from The Sandlot)... and that can get expensive, if you know what I mean! We ALWAYS pre-funk prior to going out, because lets be honest, drinks are expensive and they can end up taking HALF your vacation budget, if you are not careful! Find a liquor store and get crafty with your bartending skills... HUGE SAVINGS RIGHT HERE!
Don't forget, Las Vegas is IN THE DESERT! These are items ADDITIONAL to your 'regular packed clothes' & are necessary for the summer time!
Trust us, the higher coverage, the better! Especially when going on a Las Vegas Vacation! Sun Bum has the BEST smell, does NOT give you that 'burning' sensation, water resistant up to 80 minutes, and it's Ocean & Reef safe too (for you! DO NOT NOT wear some type of sun protectant.... you WILL be sorry if you don't, especially in the desert! If you don't like wearing SPF lotion/spray, consider wearing an SPF shirt instead. Nate & Blake's SPF preference (men's), and my SPF preference (woman's) .
This should be an obvious one, but what I mean by swimwear, I mean bring multiple swimsuits/shorts. We both have become very fond of SHEIN & you can't beat the prices!! If you have enough for everyday that you are staying in Las Vegas, bring 'em! During the summer, you will find yourself dipping in the pool multiple times thru out the day because of the scorching heat!
When you get to Las Vegas, exploring the area is not NOT an option.... it's a must! And yes, you will want a small bag to throw all these items into, plus some waters and snacks (hydrate & curb the sweet tooth! In all honesty, we use our gear bag backpack so we can pack our cameras (keep them protected) and add whatever extras we want. This was a BIG win on our Vegas trip especially when we hiked up the Red Rock Canyons (next to the Red Rock Resort) and got some killer drone shots (Videos Here)
Not sure if its just a me thing, but somehow, something ALWAYS happens to the ONE pair of sunglasses that I bring... and then I end up buying a pair that I don't really like that much... tell me I'm not alone here that this happens too?! We LOVE these Knockaround sunglasses, & they don't break the bank!! Don't let your accessories make your vacation to Las Vegas, a negative one!
Another odd one, but this was the BEST random item that we brought with us. These are great to put wet swim suits/shorts in, if you decide on a last minute dip in the pool before you go back home! Who says you can't enjoy your last Las Vegas vacation minutes in that amazing pool?!
Whether it's being used in the pool, off-roading in Nevada's desert, or snapping selfies at the Hoover Dam, the GoPro is a must! The GoPro 8 is our MAIN camera for everything, even our YouTube videos. Our favorite feature is none other than the simple fact that it is extremely compact and can fit in our pants pockets... and obviously the other amazing features! We also use the Spivo 360 Stick as our selfie stick, & THESE other GoPro accessories too!
DO NOT.. I repeat.. DO NOT FORGET COMFORTABLE WALKING SHOES! Ok, I would assume MOST visitors will not have a car to drive from casino to casino and other 'must see places' in Vegas... and Ubers, Lyft's & Taxi's get SUPER spendy SUPER quick... so the next best and 'cheapest way to see Vegas' is by walking. And trust me... you will be doing A LOT OF WALKING if you haven't gotten to experience Las Vegas before. COMFORT IS KEY - AVOID THE BLISTERS (especially from flip flops & your cute shoes!)
Do NOT GO outside without this! Yes, Las Vegas will have chapstick, but we suggest having it on you at all times... so just bring it with you so you don't have to potentially pay a slightly higher price nor scour the convenient stores for SPF specifically. The sun gets hot and since most of the time you will be either sunbathing or trekking Vegas Blvd, you will want to keep your lips from getting fried and dried out! Once again Sun Bum SPF 30 is one of our favorites!
I can't stress this enough.. THE HEAT IS INTENSE IN LAS VEGAS! And a great way to stay cool (or help a little bit) is to carry around a small hand held fan... bonus if it mists your face lol. And DO drink lots of H20! We have used this one a few times & love how small it is!
I can't tell you how many times this portable solar charger has been a HUGE life saver, especially because we are NOT always conveniently sitting next to an electrical outlet.
"I want to stay inside for an hour to charge my phone, while on vacation in Las Vegas"... SAID NO ONE EVER!
And this one is pretty rugged, so if it gets a little wet or dusty because you are out exploring, no big deal... oh and did I mention it can charge via the sun?!
Yes, Nevada's desert gets VERY cold during the winter!
Normally when you think of Las Vegas, you think HEAT and LESS LAYERS... well, that's NOT the case when it's winter! When we visited Las Vegas in December, we failed at packing properly... well kinda. Pack your WARMEST coat and thicker hoodies. Bring anything that will keep you warm and don't slack on packing these bulkier items!
Winter in the desert DOES bring rain.... and generally it's a lot of rain at one time! Bring a compact umbrella because you can fit it in a carry-on and you won't have to pack another bulky (rain) coat!
This might sound like an odd one for winter time, but do pack at least one or two. Most Las Vegas hotels/resorts shut down there pools, but they generally turn at least one of them into a hot tub
