STAYING AT THE ROYALTON CHIC SUITES cancun
THE ROYALTON CHIC SUITES CANCUN IN A SNAPSHOT
BEFORE YOU TRAVEL:

First I'll say this... we will be back!! We Really loved the Chic-ness of the Royalton Chic Suites Cancun... and pretty much everything else! Here's our thoughts about the property (see pics below) or if you don't want to read this, you can watch our full room and resort tour here.
I'll just say these first... THE CONS... because we all know there will be one or two
- The elevators - the elevators are pretty small and during prime hours of the day (mornings and dinner time), you will be waiting a couple more minutes than normal
- The room service (food delivery wise) - the room service took an hour both times we ordered it, and sadly it was luke warm. We ordered once in the am and once in the evening.
- A 'doowey' room - So, this was somewhat our fault... DON'T DO WHAT WE DID. Turns out, if you don't shut your doors all the way, the AC WILL TURN OFF. Thus leading to a humid, doowey room. Learn from our mistake and shut your doors! One of my clients said she used THESE DampRid Hangers & stored them in the closet with her clothes. She said it worked like a gem!
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
- Adults only All Inclusive
- Resort is located in the hotel zone, only about a 15-25 min ride from the Cancun Mexico International Airport
- Free covid testing onsite
- Set up like a condo not a hotel
- Rooftop pool is amazing and always empty and very quiet (this is because its considered the 'Diamond Club' area and if you did not buy the Diamond club package, then you have to pay for all meals & alcohol)... if you don't have the Diamond club upgrade, you can still have access to the pool... bring your drinks up and chill... the views are amazing (see pics)
Quick tip: when the rooftop pool is hosting a foam party, the seats & cabanas fill up quick, so reserve a cabana early am or a lounger first thing in the am. If you want a cabana, you have to buy a bottle of liquor. The basic cabanas are $150 and the cabanas with the jacuzzi (luke warm jacuzzi water) are $500
- Spa is absolutely beautiful! Go check out the free (included) Hydro pool and sit in it! Just call and make a reservation early in the am, spots fill up quick... especially on the weekends
- There are 6 onsite restaurants with stunning views in each... and the food is actually really good... generally this is not the case for AI's, but this one is pretty good! (Restaurant types: Italian, Mexican, Steak House, Asain Cuisine, Buffet (breakfast, lunch, & dinner), & a Private Culinary Experience (additional charge)
- Small Cafe & Ice cream shop on first level by the beach pools
- 4 pools down on the first floor (backside facing the beach)... one is for Diamond Club guests only and the other 3 are for all guest... and they have swim up bars in 2 of them
- Excellent gym! And the views from the gym are stunning... makes it easier to get in that workout during vacation
- Multiple bars
- Nightly entertainment (daytime entertainment too, down by the beach pools)
- Locations to book tours on-site (we can also book them for you & maybe a little cheaper)
- A small shop with clothes (spendy $$ imho)
- ATM on-site that gives US dollars
ROOMS:
- All rooms have a great view... the difference is, one overlooks the Bay (sunset view)... or the other is a direct Ocean view. We stayed in the Presidential One Bedroom Suite with the sunset view, and it was massive ➡ see our room tour
Quick tip: Don't forget to close your doors tight... the ac WILL SHUT OFF if they are left open.. even cracked just a hair!

4 REASONS Why We Stayed At The Royalton Chic Suites Cancun
An excellent question... why did we chose the Royalton Chic Suites Cancun and why would we suggest it to you?! Lets start with the first part of this question and it should answer the second 😉.
There are several factors as to why we chose this specific resort, but our top 4 reasons are as follows:
- CLOSE TO THE CANCUN MEXICO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - The Royalton Chic Suites Cancun is only about a 15-25 minute taxi ride (we highly recommend pre-booking a taxi/car transfer) from the Cancun International Airport. This is a HUGE bonus! Last time we visited Mexico, we had nearly a 3 hour bus ride to Playa Del Carmen... NEVER AGAIN... the convenience in a 20 minute ride is worth every penny and time is of the essences while on vacation (you know I'm right 😉)!
- NEWER RESORT IN THE HOTEL ZONE - Yes, there are new resorts popping up all over in Cancun, but the Royalton is one of the newest located on the very popular 'Hotel Zone', with excellent views of the beautiful Caribbean and the Nichupte Bay. The resort actually opened in February 2019 in the Hotel Zone... but then shut back down (due to covid) and reopened again in October 2020. So you could say, its still brand new, and it actually felt that way when we visited just recently.
- ALL INCLUSIVE ADULTS ONLY RESORT - If you know us (read our 'About Us' page), we have a son - Blake - that is general with us on our trips (until he got his license just recently)... but we decided this vacation would be nice to be spent in a resort that was Adults Only, so this was a big factor in our decision making! Plus... we wanted All Inclusive so we didn't have to leave the resort for food and drinks every time. We only left twice... to buy the liquor we wanted (read our Cancun Travel Tips & see why), and to explore the shops near the roundabout. Typically when you hear 'All Inclusive', the food and drinks are sub par (just being honest), but the Royalton Chic Cancun actually did an EXCELLENT job on both these items!
- WALKING DISTANCE TO ALL THE SHOPS & ENTERTAINMENT - This was another reason we stayed at the Royalton Chic Cancun, because it was incredibly close to multiple little shops, restaurants, bars and entertainment. I'll be honest, the Royalton does an excellent job with all of these things, and you really don't need to leave the resort, unless you want to do some excursions (we went on the Whale Shark Tour) or just simply explore. From the Royalton, if you walk less than a half mile to the North (take a right when leaving the guard shack) towards the roundabout, you will pass multiple shops, restaurants, bars, entertainment, grocery stores etc. If you want more of a 'Mall' style shopping, I would suggest catching a taxi (we paid $6) or the bus ($1/$2) to get there... its not as close (1.5 miles South to La Isla Shopping Village) and it can get really hot on the road... not to mention the exhaust stinks lol.

WHAT DOES THE DIAMOND CLUB INCLUDE
When you book your room at the Royalton Chic Suites Cancun Mexico (we can do that for you 😉), you have the option to select a room with Diamond Club included or you can upgrade at the resort once you arrive. Some people say its not worth it, but we thought it was.
When we booked our Presidential Suite One Bedroom (watch the full room & resort tour here), it came with Diamond Club benefits, and we literally had no clue what it truly was nor could we find any information that gave us exact information on it.... so here ya go🙌
- Skip the check-in line upon arrival and get escorted to the Diamond Lounge where you get served specialty drinks, premium liquor, coffee, tea, and grab a quick snack item to hold you over for the check-in process.... and express checkout as an added bonus vs waiting at the front counter
- Access to Diamond Club Lounge everyday from 7am to 11pm
- Free money exchange & large bill breaks in Diamond Club Lounge (this may be available for other guest too, not sure)
- Complimentary early check-in & check-out
- Private Butler that you can communicate with via WhatsApp (see our list of tips & recommended apps), will send you daily activities & entertainment itinerary, can make reservations & generally get first priority, and can set up taxi and other appointments (spa)
- Access to premium liquors at no additional charge, where as you would have to pay additional if you don't have Diamond Club
- Wine and Champagne in mini fridge in your room and a glass at all restaurants
- Additional premium menu items at each restaurant at no additional charge, where as you would have to pay additional if you don't have Diamond Club
- Pick of premium pillows - I know it sounds funny, but these pillow choices make your sleep that much better
- Separate Beach & Pool area with a separate beach grill (which was seriously delicious and so very convenient!), cabanas (they do charge extra for these), chairs & umbrella, direct food/drink waiter service while on the beach
- Upgraded room service menu (I'll warn you, it can take an hour to get food and your hot food will be luke warm)
- Special private event dinner during the week at the rooftop pool
